Climate Finance from the Kulera Landscape REDD+ Program supported the participation of members of the Malawian government and community associations to attend COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The team included three members from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW), community chair-people from the Nyika-Vwaza Association (NVA) and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve Association (NAWIRA), and two local project coordinators from Terra Global Capital. Facilitating this trip demonstrated Kulera REDD+ Program’s dedication to fostering collaboration, showcasing the program's innovative approaches to conservation and community-led climate action, all while ensuring that the perspectives of local stakeholders are represented on the global stage. At COP, the team observed real-time UNFCCC negotiations, shared their experiences in managing a REDD+ Landscape Program for more than 15 years, and learned of similar high-quality multiple-benefit REDD+ programs with a strong community focus being implemented by others across the world.
